Yes, the rumour is true...Chase the Ace is back!
We began with ticket sales on Friday night, and with a guaranteed jackpot of $5000, will have our first draw on Tuesday, Dec. 5th.
A little background and a few updates…
We have just completed our second extremely successful year with the lottery and are starting all over again for year three. We can't say enough about how thankful we are for the support everyone has shown - the results have been incredible! With funds raised we have been able to complete the roof, do some emergency plumbing, repair the foundation, and add a new electrical service in preparation for further renovations. We have almost completed all of the big structural projects and are moving on to prettying the old gal up. We are currently working with Hindle Architects to do up plans for interior renovations. We can't wait to move on to this next stage!
Much of our process with Chase the Ace will remain as it has in the past. Tickets are still $5.00, and the draw will still take place on Tuesdays at 7:15 PM. Tickets will be on sale at The Grand during movies or other public events and available all day on Tuesdays. However, there is one new change to take note of. This involves the use of Proxies. This round, we will have a volunteer community member proxy for each draw. This person will not be a board member and will not have a ticket for that week's draw.
Throughout the last round, we came to learn a little more about what is needed for volunteers. This year we are asking that volunteers consider new jobs like community proxy, Facebook live videographer, Host, etc. These new positions will be posted on the online volunteer scheduler. At the moment everyone on the app has been given permission to be the volunteer proxy. If you are interested and would consider hosting or doing the Facebook live video on occasion please contact us to learn more details and to be given the necessary permissions. And just a reminder for all volunteers, provincial regulations are explicit, if you are directly involved in that week's draw (i.e. ticket sellers, ticket folders, community proxy, or host) you may not have a ticket in that week's draw. That doesn't mean you can't have one in your spouse's, relative's, or friend's name... you just can’t have one in your name.
And finally, a huge thank you to you all. Who would have thought we could make history in the way that we did and that our Grand Theatre Chase the Ace would have been as successful as it was. This time, we have raised the bar and set our ticket limit at 400,000 tickets, meaning that we would be able to raise up to $1,000,000. Just imagine what we could do if we did!!! We can't do it without you, so again, thank you, and good luck to all!
